As an extra outing we took up an invitation to visit ACD Breakers near Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire. Why visit a breakers yard we asked? Well, going by the feedback we get from owners struggling to locate Crossfire parts, and the willingness of insurance companies to write off these cars without a second thought, it is now clear that going forward there will be a growing reliance on the use of used parts to keep the Crossfire on the road. Up until recently, finding used spare parts has been very difficult with examples of crash damaged examples being very rare. And of course we don’t relish the prospect of climbing over wrecked cars with a spanner, trying to find parts to keep our pride and joy on the road, but thankfully those days are gone.

The only solution to this is to have available a professional specialist outfit where cars are specifically sourced from insurance companies for dismantling, where parts are cleaned, checked, labelled up and put on the shelf. Several of us found parts we have been wanting for ages in including headlamps, interior parts and amazingly a retractable boot cover!

UK  Crossfires has now teamed up with specialist Chrysler breakers, ACD of Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire to make available any Crossfire part needed, which can be purchased over their counter or by mail order. On our visit we went behind the scenes to how ACD operate. We saw four Crossfires being dismantled and the shelves fully stocked with every part imaginable, large or small, including all interior, body panel, electrical and mechanical components. Our visit to ACD was great fun and the warm welcome we received was only made better by the great potato pie provided to feed us up for the drive home!

If you need anything, then give ACD a call mentioning that you a member of the UK Crossfire Group - this will help get a keen quote!
