So another great year comes to an end.
10 meetings throughout the year were well attended as usual even though the weather was not always in our favour!
But at the Club AGM in April our Club Secretary, Paul Gough, tendered his resignation which started a review of how the Club can be managed going forward. This was followed by Mike Darby, Chairman and Treasurer, also resigning in September, effective December 2019. Despite trying to find people to take over the vacated roles it was felt that the Club structure needed change so at the EGM held in December the new Club structure was announced.
From 1st January 2020 the Club will be a non-fee paying organisation. This means that, with no income, the membership packs will no longer be sent out to members but the window stickers will be available at 2020 Club meets. Other services that will cease will be technical queries and car/part sale items being responded to on the Club email address. However, cars and parts can be advertised and bought on the Club Facebook - Market Place page. Ride of the Month will continue with the winner's car being featured on the Club website and Facebook pages.
The Club will now have a management team as follows:
Karl Sparrow - Events Manager
Anne E Roberts - Facebook Manager
Geoff Hooker - Technical Support Manager
Paul Dunning - Website Manager
Mike Darby and Paul Gough have offered to support the management team on an ad hoc basis for meetings and IT issues.
Membership applications will now be made via the website link as well as the facility to download and print the new Club membership disc, which is no longer an annual issue.
Some may see this as a retrograde move for the Club but after 5 years of Club development it is now in a stronger and established status with over 500 subscribers and an enviable reputation as the most sociable and friendly Club in the UK.
On behalf of all the management team, past and present we look forward to seeing you all in 2020
